Garden City Community College right handed pitcher, Garrett Bryant has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech University. Louisiana Tech is a division one program located in Ruston, LA. They compete in the Conference USA.
Bryant, a 6-7 reliever, appeared in 30 games for the Busters as a freshman and had a 3.32 ERA on the season. He struck out 17 and walked just 4 in 21 2/3 innings out of the Buster bullpen. Many of Bryant's appearances came in pressure filled, late inning situations. In 30 relief appearances Bryant did not receive a loss all season. "Garrett consistently worked out of jams for us last year. He was the guy we were comfortable throwing into the fire late in games and he did a great job of getting us back in the dugout," Head Coach Chris Finnegan said. Following his freshman season, Bryant played in The Beach League. The Beach League is a summer collegiate baseball league located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bryant was named a postseason all-star.
A Fort Collins, CO product, Bryant came to Garden City as a two sport athlete at Fossil Ridge High School where he also starred in basketball.
Bryant and redshirt freshman Cale Dineen (Dayton University) were the only two Buster players to sign early.
