Buster Take Game Three Drop Game Four


Hutchinson, KS-Garden City Baseball (0-1, 7-4) moved their games scheduled against Hutchinson (1-0, 7-1), for Saturday and Sunday to today and Friday; staying ahead of winter storm forecasts. The Blue Dragons got on the board early scoring one run in the first and second home innings. Garden City tied the score at two in the top of third. Lead off batter Francisco Alvarez singled and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Kadin Hydrick. With two outs Tyler Altizs' RBI double scored Alvarez. Rocky Desantis followed with an RBI triple scoring Altiz and the Busters knotted the game up at two. In the bottom of the third Hutchinson answered on a Jacob Eck triple. Eck scored when Bennett Oliver grounded out to second baseman Zach Barton and Hutchinson led 3-2.

Hutchinson went ahead 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth. The Busters answered in the top of the sixth. Alvarez led off the inning and was hit by a pitch. Freshman Cale Dineen moments later hit a home run scoring Alvarez tying the score at four. The game scheduled for seven innings went scoreless until the bottom of the eighth.  Jason Schleppenbach was walked by pitcher J.J. Benes. Schleppenbach advanced to third on two errors; Garden City's only two errors of the game.  Jacob Eck singled scoring Schleppenbach to end the game 5-4 Hutchinson.

In game two Garden City started with a 2-0 lead scoring two unearned runs in the top of the first. The Blue Dragons got hot bats in the bottom of the first. Three Dragons singled but came away with only one run against Pitcher Jake Eikleberry.  The Busters picked up their third and final run of the day in the top of the third. Kaleb Zimmer singled and advanced to third base on a wild pitch. With two outs Jaxon Mohr's RBI single scored Zimmer.  The inning ended with Nolan Barrientos getting thrown out at first.

In game three the Broncbusters defeated Hutchinson 5-2 in the seven inning game.  Garden City controlled the game from the start picking up one run in the first inning and three more runs in the top of the fifth.  Hutchinson put the first of two runs up in the bottom of the fifth. Garden City would get one more run in the top of the seventh to end their scoring for the day. The Blue Dragons picked up their final run in the bottom of the seventh.  Garden City recorded eight hits and no errors in the win while Hutchinson had five hits and one error. Garden City was led by Tyler Tucker with three hits, two runs and an RBI. Tyler Altiz had three RBI's and Zach Barton contributed one RBI a hit and scored one run.

In game four Garden City jumped out to a 3-0 in the top of the first.  It would be all the Busters would score for the day falling to the Blue Dragons 7-3.  Garden City held the lead until the bottom of the sixth when Hutchinson tied it at three.  Hutchinson would post two runs in the bottom of the seventh and scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth. The Buster totaled six hits for the day and tallied two errors. Hutchinson also had two errors and put up eight hits.  Garden City's Cale Dinnen posted two hits and two RBI's to lead the Busters. Garden City (1-3, 8-6) hosts Lamar on Wednesday March, 5th at Williams Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm in a nine inning game.
