Garden City, KS-JJ Benes took the hill and earned the win with a complete game shutout in his first college appearance, defeating Indian Hills Community College 3-0.  The Busters got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first.  Lead off batter Tyler Tucker was walked.  Two hole batter Tyler Alitz's sacrifice bunt advanced him to second followed by a base hit that advanced him to third.  Kaleb Zimmer's ground out RBI scored Tucker.  Catcher Francisco Alvarez struck out to end the inning.

The Falcons threatened in the top of the third. Catcher Luis Estevez was walked and Kyle Keck's sacrifice bunt advanced him to second.  Dario Polonco came to the plate with two down and hit a line drive to left field.  Buster Left Fielder Kaleb Zimmer, on a hustle play, locked and cocked a throw to home plate and Alvarez snagged the ball and tagged Estevez at the plate to end the inning.

Garden City's bats got hot in the bottom of the fifth, getting back to back RBI doubles from Triffon Tatarin and Tucker.  The inning began by pitcher Jake Klancnik hitting Nolan Barrientos.  Barrientos was replaced by pinch runner Kadin Hydrick after Barrientos advanced to second on a sac bunt by Dalton Cook.  Tatarin then doubled scoring Hydrick immediately followed by Tucker's RBI double scoring Tatarin.  Tyler Altiz struck out to end the inning.  Benes made quick work of the Falcons in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to earn his first win of the 2014 season.
