Dineen trasnferred to Garden City from the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he redshirted his freshman year. Dineen, who hails from Omaha, Nebraska attended Creighton Prep High School and was a standout in Baseball as well as Hockey. This fall Dineen hit .425 in 94 plate appearances. He also stole 12 bases. He had 14 walks and 6 hit by pitches as well. Dineen will likely play third base for the Busters this spring but is a capable infielder at all four positions on the infield. "Cale is just a ballplayer. His tools are solid across the board, but more than anything he is just a hard nosed player that will help you win ball games," Head Coach Chris Finnegan said.
Dineen plans to study international busniness at Dayton. Dayton has a rich baseball tradition as well as highly regarded business school. "Dayton had what I wanted. They have a competitive baseball program and more than anything a great business school," Dineen said of his decision.
Dineen joins sophomore Garrett Bryant, who signed with Louisiana Tech University, as the only two Busters to sign early this year.
