Busters Down Barton County; Tied for 1st in Jayhawk West

Great Bend, KS-Garden City won a pair of games on Saturday against Barton County. In Game I Garden City defeated the Cougars 8-3. Brooks Benson led the Busters with a 3 RBI double in the top of the third giving the Busters a 3-0 lead. Kyle Lopez followed with a two shot home run as Garden City went up 5-0.

Mason Brown finished the third inning carnage with an RBI double capping off a 6 run third inning. 

In Game II Garden City continued to dominate with 17 hits to Barton County's 9 to win 14-6. Garden City was led by Aeneas Roberson including a sixth inning 3 run double. Roberson went 3-5 on the day, scored 1 run and punched in 6 RBI's

In Game III the Busters jumped out to 5-1 lead after two innings and added one run in the third. Barton put up 4 runs in the bottom of the third pulling within one at 6-5. Garden City then put up three runs in the fifth and the Cougars added one run now trailing by two at 9-7 after five.

Garden City's scoring ended and in the bottom of the sixth the Cougars scored 4 runs and held Garden City in the top of the seventh to win Game III 11-9.

Garden City regrouped to claim game IV 10-8. The Busters scored two runs in the ninth inning breaking an 8-8 tie. Mason Brown paved the way going 4-4 from the dish. Brown had two doubles, a single and a home run. Brown finished the day scoring 4 runs and knocked in 3 runs. 

The Busters are 29-9 overall and are 14-6 in the conference. The Busters sit atop the Jayhawk West tied for 1st place with Colby. Garden City returns to play Saturday when they host Dodge City.
