Broncbusters still No. 1

Broncbusters still No. 1

Garden City, KS-Garden City did something that no other team has done this year.

On Monday, the Broncbusters became the longest-tenured No. 1 team, coming in first in the polls for the third straight week.

Before the latest rankings came out, Arizona Western (two weeks) and Northwest Mississippi (two weeks) had the longest stay atop the polls.

Garden City stayed put despite having the week off. They garnered five of the nine first-place votes and have a 4.5 point lead over No. 2 Arizona Western. East Mississippi, who was ranked No. 1 to begin the season, is No. 3 followed by defending national champion Northwest Mississippi and Trinity Valley (another former No. 1).

In all, there have been six, diffeent No.1 teams in 2016 including Garden City.

Coffeyville climbed back into the top 10 after beating Dodge City, who dropped out of the rankings for the first time this season. Butler moved up to No. 13, while Highland is back in the top 20 at 19.

Garden City is back in action this week at home vs. Iowa Central on Saturday. 1 p.m. kickoff at Broncbuster Stadium.
