Busters Slip in 2nd Overtime

Chanute, KS-Garden City controlled most of the game and the first overtime. However the second overtime did the Busters in as they lost a hard fought scrappy game to Neosho County Saturday 100-96.

Garden City got outscored 13-9 in the final overtime as they fall to 3-2 in Jayhawk play and 11-5 overall.  Garden City got a solid performance from Jamar Gilbert. Gilbert went 7-12 from the field including 3-5 from the arc and 2-3 from the foul line while snagging 7 rebounds.

Head Coach Brady Trenkle saw scoring improvement with four players scoring in double figures. Brandon Jones and Diontae Jones combined for 26 points scoring 13 apiece. Zach Beard emerged as he scored 11 points. Beard went 4-7 from the field including 3-5 from three. Gage Loy added 9 points and Freshman Josh Fleming tallied 8 points.

The Cougars got outstanding play from Freddie McSwain. McSwain grabbed 15 rebounds and led all scorers with 25 points. Neosho County's sets up a four way tie for third place in the KJCCC DI Standings; Seward County, Neosho, Garden City and Colby respectively.

The Busters will play Pratt at home Wednesday January, 6th. Pratt (2-2-9-6) lost to Hutchinson 75-72 Saturday night. Tipoff is slated for 7:30pm
