The Buster golf team moved back two spots into 4th place after starting the day one shot out of 1st place. After another solid round of 301 for the Busters, they were unable to hold on as solid rounds from Hutchinson CC, Dodge City, and Kansas City, KS Community College proved too much. Hutchinson came in with a tournament best 291 for a three round total of 899 to take the tournament and overall conference championship. Dodge City carded a 294 Tuesday for a tournament total of 902 alongside KCK who also finished the tournament at 902 after falling out of first place.
The Busters had two individuals finish the event in the top ten after solid performances from sophomore, Nathan Forrest, and freshman, Skyler Tebo. Forrest finished in a tie for 8th at 8 over par, 224. Tebo was able to move into 3rd place after starting the day in a tie for 4th. He finished the event just two shots behind co-champions Zach Kirby of Dodge City and Natchapol Srinoon from Barton. The win for Kirby moved him into the top spot for the overall Jayhawk Conference point standings.
"It's really hard to be upset after such a consistent week," said first year head coach Matt Zedrick. "It's easy to look back at mistakes and see where you could have finished. With that being said, I think this event was a tremendous boost of confidence for our team. The guys fought hard on a very tough golf course and gave two of the top teams in the country a run for their money. Now we need to see what areas we can improve before we head to Alvamar for our District Championship next week.He falfkdaj
I'm really proud of the progress this group has made this year. If we play to the level we are capable, I think we have as good of a shot as anyone at Districts next week.
The Busters head to Alvamar Golf Course in Lawrence, KS for the Region VI /District III Championship April 27-28, 2015.
