Broncbuster puts away Hesston

Garden City, KS-Nearly a month ago, a lightning delay took away what looked to be a sure victory over Hesston.

Nearly 30 days later, the Broncbusters finally were able to finish what they started.

Remi Emeriau scored twice, including the go-ahead goal on a free kick in the 86th minute as Garden City defeated Hesston 3-2 Wednesday afternoon at Broncbuster Stadium.

"I like that this team continues to fight," Head Coach Scott Westbrook said.

After Emeriau got the Broncbusters on the board seven minutes into the match, Garden City took command following Jesus Vasquez's goal in the 27 minute that made it 2-0.

But Hesston rallied back, getting a goal from Landon Baer three minutes later on a corner kick, and Dakota Hearrell scored before the half to tie the match 2-2.

That's when Emeraiu saved the day.

A hand ball in the 87th minute gave Garden City (4-9, 2-6) a free kick. Emeraiu capitalized, pushing the ball past goalie Bryson White for the game winner.
