Hayes and Hurley lead Broncbuster rodeo team at Fort Hays State

The Garden City men's team finished ninth at the Fort Hays State rodeo over the weekend.

Tanner Hayes paced the Broncbuseters, winning the long go of the saddle bronc competition with 73 points. But he had some bad luck in the short and was bucked off his horse, leaving him with a fourth-place finish in the average.

Garden City-native Colt Hurley made his first short-go appearance in saddle bronc, finishing seventh in the long go; third in the short and third in average. Tyler Erickson was 10th in the long go in bareback riding before finishing sixth in average, and Cody Gillette placed eighth in the long go in steer wrestling. He took home fifth place in the average.

Garden City closes out the season on Thursday at the Oklahoma Panhandle State Rodeo.
