Busters Take Game II 21-11 Split with Lamar

Broncbusters surrenders sixth inning lead to Lamar Community College in 4-1 defeat

A tight game was decided in the sixth inning as Broncbusters fell to Lamar Community College 4-1 in seven innings on Friday at Lamar, CO.

Stevie Wadsworth recorded the win for Lamar Community College. She allowed one run over seven innings. She struck out eight, walked none and surrendered five hits.

Haleigh Johnson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

The lone run of the game for Broncbusters crossed the plate in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Leisha Nakagawa.

Lamar Community College scored one run of its own in the fourth. Lamar Community College scored on an RBI single by Gabriella Diaz.

Lamar Community College never trailed after scoring three runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Taylor Worth.

Broncbusters best Lamar Community College in shootout, 21-11

The bats were busy at Lamar, CO on Friday, and when the dust cleared Broncbusters had a 21-11 win over Lamar Community College in seven innings.

The teams combined for 40 hits, including 12 extra base hits.

Broncbusters beat Lamar Community College thanks to 23 hits, including seven extra base hits. Broncbusters scored seven runs in the seventh on Broncbusters scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Haleigh Johnson, a two-run double by Cheyenne Phelps, a two-run double by Erin Jankiewicz, an error, and an RBI double by Hailey Motherwell.

 

Jankiewicz racked up five RBIs on four hits for Broncbusters.

 

Even though Shaylene Shepherd allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings she still recorded the victory. Shepherd struck out three, walked none and gave up nine hits.

Broncbusters easily handled Lamar Community College pitching as six hitters combined for 19 hits, 16 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Broncbusters didn't relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the first inning when it scored on a two-run double by Motherwell and two singles.

After posting two runs in the second, Broncbusters again scored two in the sixth. In the second, Broncbusters scored on a two-run home run by Jankiewicz, plating Kalie Vernon.

Four Lamar Community College runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the second, making the score 6-3. A three-run home run by Baylee Pattersongave Lamar Community College life. Finally, Shepherd got Desiree Ramirezto ground out to end the threat.

Broncbusters got one-run rallies in the third inning and the fifth. In the third, Broncbusters scored on a sacrifice fly by Leisha Nakagawa, scoring Motherwell.

Broncbusters increased its lead with four runs in the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Vernon singled, plating Phelps.
