Broncbusters musters 3 hits, drops 14-1 contest to Otero Community College

Kaitlyn Bean did her best to will Broncbusters to a win with a two-hit game, but Broncbusters dropped a 14-1 contest to Otero Community College on Monday at La Junta, CO.

Brett Johnson got the win for Otero Community College. She allowed one run over five innings. She struck out two, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Haleigh Johnson was charged with the loss. She allowed 14 runs in four innings, walked one and struck out none.

Broncbusters scored its only run of the game on an RBI single by Erin Jankiewicz in the first inning.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Otero Community College scored two runs on an RBI double by Courtney Baeckel and a groundout byTaylor Hansel.

Otero Community College added 10 more runs in the bottom of the fourth.Katelyn Ellis kicked things off with a three-run home run, scoring Miranda Davis and Sarah Kay.

Cheyenne Phelps went 2-3 at the plate, but Broncbusters fell 12-4 to Otero Community College at La Junta, CO on Monday.

Aspen Atkins got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed four runs over five innings. She struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Kaitlyn Bean ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed 12 runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out two.

The top of the first saw Broncbusters take an early lead, 1-0. Phelps singled to ignite Broncbusters' offense. A groundout by Kalie Vernon then moved Phelps from second to third.

Broncbusters tied the game in the third on a passed ball that scored Vernon.

Otero Community College stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring six runs on an RBI double by Katelyn Ellis, an error, an RBI single by Morgan Hansel, and a two-run triple by Sami Kouns.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Broncbusters faced just a 11-4 deficit. A groundout by Phelps sparked Broncbusters' rally. The game went final when Hailey Motherwell.
