Broncbusters falls behind in seventh inning in 9-5 loss to Seward County Community College

Broncbusters lost a hotly contested 9-5 game in seven innings on Saturday at Garden City, KS after surrending the lead in the seventh inning.

 

Skyler Doughty racked up two RBIs on one hit for Broncbusters. She homered in the sixth inning.

 

Even though Kelly Kearney allowed five runs over seven innings she still recorded the victory. Kearney struck out none, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Kaitlyn Bean couldn't get it done in the circle for Broncbusters, taking a loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

Broncbusters jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A single by Erin Jankiewicz, bringing home Cheyenne Phelps started the inning off. Broncbusters then tacked on more runs when Jankiewicz scored on an RBI double by Bean.

Seward County Community College went up for good in the seventh, scoring five runs on a two-run double by Hannah Lopez, an RBI single by Jaidyn Mawhinney, and.

Broncbusters drops high-scoring affair to Seward County Community College, 16-8

Broncbusters lost a battle of the bats on Saturday at Garden City, KS, falling short in a 16-8 ballgame against Seward County Community College.

Home runs for Seward County Community College came when Kristyna Garcia homered in the first inning, Callie Silvers-Harnly homered in the second inning, and Venice Batts homered in the first and fourth innings.

Haleigh Johnson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She allowed seven runs in four innings, walked three and struck out one.

The top of the first saw Seward County Community College take an early lead, 2-0. A solo blast by Garcia started the inning off. Seward County Community College added more runs when scored on a solo home run by Batts.

It didn't take long for Broncbusters to answer as it scored four runs of its own in the first. Broncbusters scored on a passed ball and a three-run home run by Hailey Motherwell.

Broncbusters survived Seward County Community College's surge and put up two runs of its own in the second. Broncbusters scored on an RBI single by Cheyenne Phelps and an RBI single by Kaitlyn Bean.

Seward County Community College went up for good in the fourth, scoring three runs on a three-run home run by Batts.

After posting one run in the fourth, Broncbusters again scored one in the sixth. In the fourth, Broncbusters scored on a fielder's choice, plating Kalie Vernon.

An RBI double by Motherwell set off Broncbusters rally. Finally, Kelly Kearneyinduced an inning-ending fly out from Johnson.

Seward County Community College piled on six more runs in the top of the seventh. Hannah Clark started the inning with a single, bringing homeBrittany Corrales and Garcia.
