Garden City, KS-Garden City's second half surge continued on Wednesday.
And they looked good doing it.
"The girls played well," Head Coach Charles Long said afterwards. "We made one or two mistakes that they capitalized on. But other than that, it was a pretty good day."
The two teams played to scoreless tie in the first half. Then seven minutes into the second period, Sierra Riveria setup Ruth Estrada for the first goal of the game. 35 seconds later, Delarosa wiggled free to put Garden City up 2-0.
That's when a familiar face got Barton County back in the match.
Garden City-native Amber Miller scored in the 60th minute to cut the deficit in half.
"We are dealing with a lot of injuries, so I'm proud of how the girls fought through this one," Long said."
The Broncbusters were playing their first match without freshman Love Pluviose, who suffered a severe eye injury in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Hesston.
With the win, Garden City improved 6-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. Barton County fell to 4-5-1 and 3-3 in conference.
