The Broncbuster men's track team competed at the Red Raider Open at Texas Tech University over the weekend.
Ja'Brionne Bacon paced Garden City, sprinting 22.65 seconds in the 200-meter dash finals, placing 21st. It was just off his personal best and six-tenths of a second away from qualifying for nationals. Bacon also split 49 seconds on the men's 4x400 relay team.
Jonathan Smith ran his first event of the season, competing in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash. He timed out at 7.08 seconds, which was one-tenth of a second off a personal best and two-tenths of a second from qualifying for nationals.
Garden City is back in action on Friday in Lawrence at the Jayhawk Open.
