Bio
Jared Powers joined Garden City Community College Athletics in 2021 as a part-time game day staff member, assisting with event operations and live stream productions. In 2023, he transitioned into a full-time role as Assistant Residential Life Director while continuing to support Broncbuster Athletics through game day production, communications, and media operations.
As Assistant Residential Life Director, Powers works closely with students to help create a safe, welcoming, and comfortable living environment on campus. He assists with the day-to-day operations of Residential Life, supports student development, and helps ensure residents have the resources they need to succeed both academically and personally during their time at GCCC.
In athletics, Powers is responsible for the creation of game day programs, videoboard content, digital graphics, and social media assets used to promote Broncbuster Athletics. He plays an integral role in preparing and coordinating game day presentations across multiple athletic venues.
During events, Powers serves as the director of Garden City's live stream broadcasts, overseeing production operations and coordinating student workers and game day staff to deliver a high-quality viewing experience for fans, alumni, and supporters. His leadership helps ensure professional broadcasts that showcase Garden City Community College and its student-athletes.
Prior to joining Garden City Community College, Powers spent 12 years with the Garden City Telegram. During his tenure, he specialized in advertising design, page layout, and visual storytelling through print media. In his final three years, he served as the newspaper's sole designer and layout specialist, overseeing graphic design projects and the creation of special sections.
Throughout his newspaper career, Powers earned numerous Kansas Press Association awards for excellence in newspaper design and visual presentation. He also served as a lead designer for CherryRoad Media, where he was responsible for designing and producing special sections for more than 90 newspapers across the company's network.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Powers enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Ashley, an art teacher with USD 457, welcomed their daughter, Sabrina, in August 2025 and enjoy raising her in the Garden City community.
