Strong Kansas Class Headlines National Signing Day

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — Garden City Community College football announced its 2026 signing class, a group highlighted by size in the trenches, athleticism at the skill positions, and a strong in-state presence from Kansas high school programs.

"Today was a great day, not only for the Garden City CC Football program but for the college itself," said Head Coach Kiyoshi Harris. "Our football staff has worked a tremendous number of hours targeting recruits and future Broncbusters, and we feel we hit our targets today. We were really specific in certain areas of recruiting that focus on our immediate needs."

The class reflects a continued emphasis on building depth, developing talent, and maintaining strong recruiting ties throughout Kansas.

The Broncbusters signed a diverse group of student-athletes from across the country and internationally, with a significant portion of the class coming from Kansas high schools. Those Kansas signees will be key to the program's long-term success.

KANSAS SIGNEES

"Our number one priority will always be the state of Kansas, and we overachieved in our state this year," Harris said. "We needed to focus on box players, and we were able to sign some really good football players that could come in and make an impact year one."

OFFENSE

Running Backs

Brayden Pappas | RB | 5-7 | 180 | Goddard, Kan. | Eisenhower HS A Shrine Bowl selection and First Team All-State honoree, Pappas posted a 3.95 GPA and was one of the top backs in Kansas. "Bryaden Pappas is one of the best running backs in the state," Harris said.

Jamie Bowens Jr. | RB | 5-9 | 160 | Overland Park, Kan. | Blue Valley Northwest HS Bowens earned All-State recognition while competing in one of Kansas' top classifications. "LJ Bowens brings speed and explosiveness to our backfield," Harris added.

Bryce Randall | RB | 6-0 | 190 | Olathe, Kan. | Olathe Northwest HS A Shrine Bowl selection and All-State performer, Randall brings physicality and balance. "We rounded off our in-state class by signing three of the top running backs in Kansas," Harris said.

Wide Receivers / Tight Ends

Jaxon Myers | WR | 5-9 | 160 | Salina, Kan. | Salina South HS A Shrine Bowl selection and second-team All-AVCTL honoree, Myers brings polished route running and strong football instincts.

Jamarcus Vorner | WR | 6-0 | 175 | Manhattan, Kan. | Manhattan HS Vorner adds size and physicality at receiver and continues the strong Kansas pipeline in the 2026 class.

Sean O'Banion | TE | 6-2 | 250 | Parsons, Kan. | Parsons HS O'Banion provides a powerful frame and versatility as a tight end. A Kansas signee with a 3.4 GPA, he projects as a physical blocker with reliable hands.

Offensive Line

Bailey Johnson | OL | 6-3 | 340 | Lawrence, Kan. | Lawrence HS Johnson was one of the premier in-state offensive line signees in the 2026 class. "Bailey Johnson was a huge pickup for us," Harris said. "He brings the toughness, size and attitude to the offensive line that we need."

Davian Trejo | OL | 6-3 | 300 | Liberal, Kan. | Liberal HS A First Team All-WAC selection, Trejo adds local toughness and versatility up front. "Davian Trejo will also help us up front on the offensive line," Harris said.

DEFENSE

Defensive Line

Zach Helten | DL | 6-4 | 240 | Wichita, Kan. | Bishop Carroll Catholic HS Helten was a Second Team All-City selection and one of the top defensive line signees in the state. "We signed a huge pickup on the defensive line in Zach Helten," Harris said. "We felt he could be a year-one contributor."

Adam Humphrey | DL | 6-2 | 208 | Topeka, Kan. | Topeka HS Humphrey earned Second Team All-League honors and adds speed and athleticism off the edge.

Devan Fleischer | DL | 6-3 | 230 | Bonner Springs, Kan. | Bonner Springs HS Fleischer earned Second Team City Leader honors and provides depth along the defensive line.

Linebackers

Jhett Price | LB | 6-2 | 230 | Garden City, Kan. | Garden City HS A Shrine Bowl selection and First Team 6A All-State linebacker, Price posted a 4.01 GPA. "Signing Garden City's own Jhett Price was huge for us," Harris said.

Trenton Kern | LB | 6-1 | 220 | Great Bend, Kan. | Great Bend HS Kern was a Shrine Bowl selection and Conference Player of the Year, earning First Team All-Conference honors.

Bryer Rojas | LB | 6-3 | 220 | Goddard, Kan. | Goddard HS Rojas earned AVCTL Second Team honors and will also compete in baseball at Garden City.

Brenaj Price | LB | 6-2 | 205 | Kansas City, Kan. | Schlagle HS A two-time All-State linebacker and First Team All-Conference selection.

Defensive Backs

Erv Manuel Phillips | DB | 6-2 | 170 | Wichita, Kan. | Goddard HS A two-time All-League Honorable Mention selection, Phillips adds depth and athleticism to the secondary.

"We continue to concentrate on our needs out of state and were fortunate to sign three early enrollees along with a strong out-of-state class," Harris said. "Most of these players will have an opportunity to compete in year one."

The 2026 signing class represents a balanced blend of regional ties and national reach, with Kansas signees forming a strong foundation for the future of Broncbuster football.

"As a head coach, your job is to out-recruit your previous class, and we felt we did that today," Harris said. "We're thankful for our assistant coaches and the players who trusted us by signing with Garden City Community College."
