Broncbusters stay perfect with dominant 121–88 win at Otero
La Junta, CO - Garden City's offense continued to fire on all cylinders Saturday night, cruising past Otero College 121–88 to improve to 2–0 on the season .
The Broncbusters raced out to a 52–42 halftime lead and never looked back, overwhelming the Rattlers with relentless defensive pressure and transition play. Garden City outscored Otero 69–46 in the second half, showcasing its depth and up-tempo style that has quickly become its identity.
Sophomore guard Devonte Reed led the charge with a stellar all-around performance — 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, seven rebounds, six steals, and four assists. Jordon Nevill lit it up from deep, hitting six three-pointers on his way to 22 points and five assists, while Jamir Westry stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, nine assists, and five steals.
Zaire Lott added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Mangok Gach contributed 10 points and two steals. Off the bench, Xavier Johnson and Lucas Kalimba combined for 16 points, helping the Broncbusters extend their lead to as many as 35 late in the second half.
Garden City's defense was suffocating, forcing 43 Otero turnovers and collecting 25 steals, while turning those mistakes into 33 points. The Broncbusters also controlled the boards, outrebounding the Rattlers 46–52, and shot 46 percent from the field.
Otero's Noah Banks and Felix Gasana each scored 15 points, with Gasana also grabbing 13 rebounds, but the Rattlers couldn't withstand Garden City's tempo and defensive pressure.
With the victory, Garden City improves to 2–0, averaging over 120 points per game through its first two contests.
