Lott Lights Up Great Bend as Broncbusters Top #20 Barton
Great Bend, KS—Behind a dominant scoring performance from Zaire Lott, the Garden City Community College men's basketball team delivered a statement road win on Saturday afternoon, knocking off #20-ranked Barton Community College 111–95 at the Fleske Fieldhouse.
Garden City wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead with defensive pressure and efficient offense. Jordon Nevill knocked down a pair of early threes, while Devonte Reed and Dasean Lewis attacked the paint as the Broncbusters built momentum in the opening minutes. Barton struggled to find a rhythm against Garden City's length and activity, and the Busters steadily pushed the margin.
Lott entered midway through the first half and immediately changed the game. He scored in transition, finished through contact, and buried shots from deep as Garden City surged ahead. The Broncbusters dominated the glass and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, heading into halftime with a commanding 60–43 advantage.
The second half followed a similar script. Every time Barton threatened to close the gap, Garden City responded. Lott continued his offensive showcase, scoring in bunches with a mix of pull-up jumpers, drives, and powerful finishes at the rim. Lewis and Reed provided steady scoring support, while Garden City's ball movement created open looks and kept the Cougars scrambling defensively.
By the final media timeout, the outcome was no longer in doubt as the Broncbusters eclipsed the 100-point mark and closed out one of their most complete performances of the season. Garden City finished the night with 111 points, showcasing depth, pace, and offensive balance against a nationally ranked opponent.
Lott led all scorers with 35 points, turning in a career night on the road. Lewis and Reed each added 18 points, and Garden City's bench provided a major lift throughout the game as the Broncbusters controlled both tempo and effort for all 40 minutes.
