Bio

LaChristopher Smith begins his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track teams.  

Originally from Baton Rouge, LA, Smith graduated from Northeast High School in 2014 where he was a state champion in the 400-meter dash. He was named to the All-Louisiana Team and was both an all-district and all-state selection.  

Following high school, Smith received a scholarship to Garden City Community College where he earned his associate’s degree in communications in 2016. He was a nationally ranked sprinter and was named an NJCAA All-American. 

Following Garden City, Smith signed with the University of Colorado Springs where he became the school recordholder and conference champion in the 100-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay. He was named an All-American during his junior season and was also a Junior Olympic champion.  

While running track, Smith played one season of college football where he was named to the All-District team. He parlayed that into a brief pro career with the Denver Sharks and the Salt Lake Senate of the Pro Arena Football League.

Smith also enjoyed a successful baseball career earning all-district and all-state honors in high school before playing a season at Colorado Springs.
