Monumental Milestone: GCCC Rodeo Captures First Team Win in Program History
The GCCC Rodeo Teams competed in the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Rodeo in Durant, Oklahoma over this past weekend. The Women's team was unable to qualify anyone into the Championship Short Go, but the Men's Team made history by Winning the Men's Team championship. We are almost certain this is the first time in program history the GCCC Men's Team was able to secure a first place finish at a Central Plains region rodeo.
Jaytyn Hash, and Jhett VanderHamm led the way in the Team Roping by winning the Long Go with a 6.2 second run, and the Short Go with a 6.4, therefore winning the Average!
Rhett Robbins Won 2nd in the 1st Go of the Bareback Riding with a 76 point score, and first place in the 2nd Go Round with a 78. He also won the Average!
Brady Irvine Won 2nd in the Long Go of Saddle Bronc Riding with a 75, 3rd in the Short Go with a 74, and took 2nd in the Average.
Bobby Davis won 4th in the 1st Go of Bareback Riding with a 68 point ride. He unfortunately bucked off in the Short Go, but still finished 5th in the Average.
Mark Halliday Won 6th place in the Long Go of Saddle Bronc Riding with a 67, he scored a 62 point score in the Short Go to win 7th place, and finished 7th in the Average.
Braden Routier was 11th place in the Long Go of Tie Down Roping with a 14.2 second run, 5th in the Short Go with 14.1, and finished 5th in the Average. Braden also made the Short Go in the Steer Wrestling in 12th place with a 6.9 second run. He was 8th in the Short Go with an 8.5 second run, and finished in 9th place in the Average.
This is a monumental accomplishment for the Men's Team, that is surely going to only fuel the fire for the team. We have had some Women's teams in the past who were able to win several rodeos as a team, but this is a first for the Men's team. With this win, the Men's team is now tied for 2nd place in the region.
We have a short turnaround this week as we head to Stillwater, Ok. for the OSU Cowboy Stampede rodeo this weekend.
