Bio
Belinda Hendrix was named Head Softball Coach at Garden City Community College on May 10, 2024, bringing with her one of the most accomplished resumes in NJCAA softball history.
Prior to joining the Broncbusters, Hendrix spent the 2023-24 season at Southeast Arkansas College and previously served on staff at East Tennessee State University. With more than two decades of coaching experience, three national championships, and more than 800 career victories, Hendrix has established herself as one of the most successful coaches in the sport.
Hendrix is best known for her remarkable 17-year tenure as Head Coach at Chipola College in Florida, where she established one of the premier programs in NJCAA softball. During her time with the Indians, she compiled 785 victories, won three NJCAA National Championships (2007, 2015, and 2019), and guided her teams to eight NJCAA National Tournament appearances. Her accomplishments earned her three NJCAA National Coach of the Year honors and 10 Panhandle Conference Coach of the Year awards.
Throughout her career, Hendrix has demonstrated a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. She has coached 53 NJCAA All-Americans, two NJCAA Pitchers of the Year, nine Panhandle Conference Players of the Year, and 10 Panhandle Conference Pitchers of the Year. Her programs have also excelled in the classroom, highlighted by a 90-percent graduation rate during her tenure at Chipola.
Since arriving at Garden City, Hendrix has guided the Broncbusters to 57 victories while continuing the program's tradition of developing elite student-athletes. Under her leadership, the program has produced three NJCAA All-Americans, with Maria Avendano Fori earning the honor in 2025 and Maysen Kurene-Iwikau and Maiarangi Waipara receiving All-American recognition in 2026. Her teams continue to emphasize competitive excellence, academic achievement, and the development of student-athletes prepared for success at the next level.
Prior to her collegiate coaching career, Hendrix played softball at Thomas University in Thomasville, Georgia, before earning her degree in Psychology from Troy University. She began her coaching career at Vernon High School, where she posted a 56-22 record over three seasons and led the program to two district championships.
Joining Hendrix on the Garden City coaching staff is her husband, Jimmy Hendrix, who serves as Assistant Softball Coach. Jimmy previously spent several seasons as Associate Head Coach at Chipola College and has been instrumental in building successful programs throughout his coaching career.
Belinda and Jimmy are the proud parents of two daughters, Madyson and Jade.
Over 22 seasons as a head coach at the high school, NJCAA, and collegiate levels, Hendrix has compiled an overall record of 842-327, establishing herself as one of the most successful coaches in the sport.
