Hutchinson, KS—The Garden City Community College women's basketball team suffered its first setback of the season Wednesday night, falling 64–47 to the No. 18–ranked Hutchinson Blue Dragons at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Garden City hung tough early, trailing just 16–15 after the opening quarter, but the Blue Dragons seized control with a decisive 19–6 second quarter, creating an uphill battle the Busters couldn't overcome. Hutchinson's physicality around the rim proved pivotal, holding a 36–22 advantage in points in the paint and scoring 23 points off turnovers.
Elektra Mjoll led the Broncbusters with 15 points, knocking down five three-pointers, while Sokhna Ndiaye added 11 points and two steals. London Turner finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Marshea Fisher contributed 5 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.
The Busters shot 37.5% from the field and 33% from deep, fighting back with a strong fourth quarter but unable to close the gap after Hutchinson's early surge.
Garden City falls to 5–1 overall, wrapping up a challenging midweek road test. The Broncbusters now turn their attention to regrouping and preparing for their next matchup.
