The Garden City Community College women's soccer team etched their name in the record books on Saturday, defeating Hutchinson Community College for the first time in program history with a 1–0 victory at Broncbuster Stadium.
Match Summary
After a scoreless first half, Summer Barrett delivered the breakthrough in the 53rd minute, scoring her third goal of the season to put Garden City on top.
Goalkeeper Isabelle Barsk was rock solid in net, stopping three shots to secure the clean sheet and preserve the milestone win.
Although Hutchinson controlled much of the set-piece play with an 8–1 advantage in corner kicks and outshot the Broncbusters 4–3, Garden City's defensive unit held strong and closed out the program's first-ever victory over the Blue Dragons.
Significance
With the historic result, Garden City improves to 8-2-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play, while celebrating a long-awaited breakthrough in the series against Hutchinson.
