Assistant Volleyball Coach

Bio

Jennifer Ortiz enters her first season as an assistant volleyball coach at Garden City Community College, bringing a strong background in athletic leadership, player development, and health performance.

A native of Macksville, Kansas, Ortiz graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance, emphasizing Sports and Exercise Therapy. During her time at Fort Hays State, she gained valuable experience in both athletics and sports medicine, completing internships with FIT PT and Wellness and Advanced Therapy and Sports Medicine, where she assisted in patient care, treatment preparation, and fitness programming.

Before joining the Broncbusters, Ortiz served as the head volleyball coach at LaCrosse High School from 2021 to 2023. There, she directed all aspects of the program, including practice design, player development, budgeting, scheduling, and social media coordination. Under her leadership, the program emphasized discipline, teamwork, and academic accountability.

In addition to her coaching experience, Ortiz has served as an assistant track and field coach at Macksville Middle School and worked in multiple professional roles that highlight her organizational and communication skills, including positions in student affairs and customer service.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Ortiz brings a passion for mentoring student-athletes on and off the court while helping them achieve success in competition, the classroom, and beyond.
